How do
believers check the authenticity of their faith?
Hello, everyone. I am Brother Huang. Today
we will check the authenticity of our faith.
The Lord said: That everyone who believes
may have eternal life in him.(John 3:15 NIV)
Of course it is good to have eternal life,
but what is the “believe”?
“Believe” is a function of our minds that
we were born with. We “believe” our parents and teachers since we were young.
When we grow up we “believe” experiences and lessons.
These “faith” come from people, and they
are true, false, profound, and superficial, which can cause us to behave
differently.
The “faith” of “believe in Jesus” is
similar to those, but there is an essential difference between whether they’re true
or false.
“True faith” can give people eternality.
“False faith” is when people thought they believe it. And those who have false faith
cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, it is very important for us to
distinguish between the true and false faith, because God still gives us a
chance to repent, so we still have hope.
How to distinguish it? The Bible tells us:
Just to see how you behaved after you believed in Jesus? Whoever fears the LORD
walks uprightly, but those who despise him are devious in their ways. (Proverbs
14:2 NIV)
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus
said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.(John 8:31 NIV)
If we always abide by the Lord's word, then
our faith is true and we are the real disciples of the Lord.
If we are unwilling to obey, then that is the
false faith, just like the betrayer Judas, although he has been following the
Lord, but he has no faith in his heart, and his ending is death.
The apostle James said more clearly, James
said: What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith
but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? (James 2:14 NIV)
You foolish person, do you want evidence
that faith without deeds is useless? (James 2:20 NIV)
You see that his faith and his actions were
working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. (James 2:22
NIV)
We like to hear Paul what said: If you
declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NIV)
Why do you not like to hear what Jesus said:
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.(Matthew 7:21
NIV)
The Lord can examine people's hearts. No
matter how sweet our mouths are, if our behaviors don’t match, we won't be able
to enter the kingdom of heaven.
“The most expressive thing in the world is
money, Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my
house.” says the LORD Almighty. (Malachi
3:10 NIV)
The Lord also said: You should have
practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.(Luke 11:42 NIV)
Many believers can't even do one-tenth
offering and also don't repent. I can tell you: Such behavior will always have
no part in the kingdom of heaven.
For
truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter,
not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until
everything is accomplished.(Matthew 5:18 NIV)
